Rider Pro for the rider, a separate free Mechanic account, and an accepted connection between the accounts. Either person can send the invitation; the other must accept it before record sharing.
Rider: choose the records and permissions
Start once the account connection has been accepted. Decide what the mechanic needs for the work: reading an existing setup, for example, or adding maintenance records. The mechanic’s own parts inventory works independently of these permissions.
- In the rider’s account, open Data Sharing and find the connection with the intended mechanic.
- Select the motorcycles to share. A connection alone does not give access to every bike or record.
- Choose permissions for the relevant data categories. The View Only, Maintenance and Full Access presets provide starting points. Review the individual choices: viewing a setup and creating or editing one require different access, and maintenance has its own permission row.
- Save the sharing settings, then check access from the mechanic’s account using the steps below.
Mechanic: check that the right records are available
- Open Shared Garage and find the intended motorcycle. Confirm that it belongs to the rider whose connection you are checking.
- Open an existing record needed for the job. For setups, use Shared Garage → Setups; for sessions, use Shared Garage → Sessions. Maintenance is under Work → Maintenance.
- Check the access matches the agreed work. Reading a record confirms view access. If editing is needed, the rider must also have granted the relevant edit permission; do not infer it merely because the record is visible.
Sharing is ready for the agreed task when the intended records are visible and the permissions match the work. You do not need to add a test service or change a setup to check view access.
If a bike is visible but a setup or session is missing, the rider should check both the motorcycle selection and that category’s permissions in Data Sharing. If the accounts are not connected yet, complete the invitation and acceptance first.
Continue with the work you need to do
Once access is in place, use the dedicated guides to record a service and the parts used, prepare a setup for the rider or share Pulse Live View. These are separate tasks; they are not required to finish setting up access to motorcycle records.
